Whether you're actively trying to conceive or simply want to understand your body better, there's a lot of misinformation about how you get pregnant. Glam sat down wtih Pregnancy Expert, Dr. Howard Mandel to set the record straight. This is one of genetic tests you can have done.

The Quad Screen is a blood test that is done 15 weeks from the last menstrual period until 20 weeks completed of the last menstrual period. It is a good test but not a perfect test. It picks up approximately 2/3 of babies that have Down Syndrome, 2/3 of babies that have Trisomy 18, which is three 18th chromosomes, and additionally, picks up a collection of structural abnormalities in babies, including Spina Bifida, or other neural tube defects, abdominal wall defects, and some kidney diseases. In California, it’s law that the Quad Screen test has to be offered to pregnant women.
